This exercise demonstrates that racism is a learned response and that education and awareness are the solutions to discrimination. -- Jane Elliott was a third grade teacher in Iowa when she developed the Blue Eyed-Brown Eyed exercise to teach the effects of racism. She began this work in response to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King.
