Geld doneren zonder er veel advies bij te geven of er voorwaarden aan te koppelen: in de ontwikkelingshulp koestert men er een zekere argwaan tegenover. Toch bewijst een experiment in het Oegandese dorpje Busibi dat het kan werken. Organisatie Eight.world nam de proef op de som. Twee jaar lang kregen inwoners van Busibi een basisinkomen op hun rekening gestort via een mobiele telefoon: 16 euro per volwassene, 8 euro voor een kind. Hoewel het niet voor ieder individu een succesverhaal werd, behaalde de organisatie toch een aantal verrassende positieve resultaten. De aanwezigheid op school steeg enorm en mensen startten ondernemingen op en konden sparen.
